Pochettino, 42, is considering his future and Southampton still hope he might sign a new deal. The Argentine’s contract expires in a year’s time and his Spanish-speaking staff — assistant Jesus Perez, first-team coach Miguel D’Agostino, goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez and technical support coach Fran Alonso — are believed to be in similar positions.
Pochettino would want all four to join him should he decide to make the move, meaning Spurs would have to agree compensation terms with Southampton for the quartet for the final year of their contracts, taking the bill towards the £4million mark.
Sherwood’s departure is likely to be followed by Les Ferdinand, his assistant, and possibly Chris Ramsey, the former academy coach who stepped up to work with the first team when Sherwood was appointed last December.
Steffen Freund, who originally joined under Andre Villas-Boas before linking up with Sherwood’s team, was also expected to be moved on. Goalkeeping coach Tony Parks is another whose future is unresolved.
